Here is a sneak peak at one of the Quilts to be auctioned at 2019 Country Fest. In celebration of our 25th year, our Quilt Makers have brought back the State Bird and Flower Quilt. Church ladies spent many hours embroidering the 50 plus blocks that make up this quilt. It has been quilted by “Edna and Girls” with over 480 yards of quilting. After the binding is sew on, it will be ready for it’s new owner to purchase it on August 24.
Each block contains the official state bird, flower and name, year in which it was admitted to the union and the order in which it was admitted.
This will be the 12th State Bird and Flower Quilts sold at Country Fest. The tradition began quite by accident. A State Bird and Flower Quilt had been made for another purpose but when it became available around the time of the first Country Fest, the Quilt ladies decided to try to auction it off. They did not expect it to be the success that it was. In fact, the first State Bird & Flower quilt was the highest selling quilt of the year – it sold for $1,000. Since then, the State Bird and Flower Quilts have sold from $800 to $4,000. The last one was sold in 2013.
